Quant Blueprint

QUANT BLUEPRINT / FREE DIGITAL KIT / VERSION 1

Build a shortlist you can act on.

Use this kit to compare roles, verify opportunities and plan your preparation. It is a research tool, not a live vacancies list or a ranking of employers.

1. Start with the work.

These are starting points. Teams overlap and job descriptions take precedence.

Quant trading

Decision-making under uncertainty; pricing and risk; reacting to information.

Preparation signals

Probability, expected value, mental arithmetic and clear decisions.

A useful question

What is discretionary, automated or hybrid about this team's work?

Quant research

Developing and evaluating models or signals; designing experiments; analyzing data.

Preparation signals

Statistics, programming, experimental design and research communication.

A useful question

How does the team validate a hypothesis and control overfitting?

Quant development

Building reliable research, data, execution or trading systems.

Preparation signals

Software design, algorithms, systems and performance appropriate to the role.

A useful question

Is the role focused on research infrastructure, execution, data or another area?

2. Verify six things for every target.

01The exact role

Record the job title, team and responsibilities. Different firms use the same title for different work.

02Eligibility

Verify location, work authorization, degree expectations and experience on the current posting. Do not infer eligibility from a social post.

03The application window

Save the official URL and date checked. Deadlines and openings change; treat every old list as a research starting point.

04The interview process

Separate what the firm confirms from third-party anecdotes. Record the source and whether it applies to your role and hiring year.

05Your evidence

List projects, coursework or experience that demonstrate the requested skills. Turn vague claims into specific work you can discuss.

06Your next action

Choose one: investigate further, prepare a skill gap, tailor an application or apply. Set a review date.

3. Research a balanced shortlist.

Start with a small number of roles you can investigate properly. Use our company directory to discover firms, then verify details on their official careers pages. Compare the role, your evidence of fit and the work required to close a skill gap.

Example research targets include Jane Street, Citadel Securities, Optiver and Two Sigma. These are examples to investigate, not recommendations, confirmed openings or claims of affiliation.

4. Fill in your first research card.
